So Long Thanksgiving ...

Every once in awhile I go from a run to stop.  Today was my 57th hectic Thanksgiving.  As we gathered around our table, someone suggested, "hey, what are we thankful for?"  There was a hush over the room.  The responses were the same ... "I am thankful for my family" ... "I am thankful for this food,"  then dead silence.  One participant said, "okay, that's it, eh?"  I was quiet.  I was thinking and in my silence ... "I am thankful that you don't live in my house, I am thankful that soon you will go home,  I am thankful that I haven't pounded you in the mouth yet."

When the house grew quiet, I sighed.  All had gone home.  Now I know what I am thankful for.  "I am thankful that their car started, I am thankful that they went home, and I am thankful that Thanksgiving comes but once a year."

Thank you dear Lord, and happy Thanksgiving.
