Euphoria

“That's the difference between me and the rest of the world!   Happiness isn't good enough for me!  I demand euphoria!”  Quote Bill Watterson, Author Calvin and Hobbs.

If we agree there's truth in humor,  what would you say about the quote?  I would say ...  "Euphoros (Greek), is the crescendo of life;  it seduces, confuses, while it takes your breath away."

Euphoria is medically recognized as a mental and emotional state defined as a profound sense of well-being.  I am blessed to know this state.  As it unveils me,  I feel completely succumb to it and when it takes me,  it feels like the first time every time.   I have felt this force of life in two ways,  one is through the management of Bipolar medication.  In medication,  I have experienced euphoria through the titrating down of pharmaceuticals in my system.  This precise titration lends itself to the possibility of a euphoric response.  During this euphoria,  I feel pulled in many directions and by the power of my force,  become influenced and compulsive.

Euphoria is generally considered to be an exaggerated physical and psychological state, sometimes induced by the use of psychoactive drugs and not typically achieved during the normal course of human experience.  However, some natural behaviors, such as activities resulting in orgasm or the triumph of an athlete, can induce brief states of euphoria.

Today, drenched by the wisdom of my psychiatrist,  I crave the process carefully.  "You are experiencing a rebound from a medication" she advised.  "So what happens now?" I ask and then she smiles,  "enjoy ... and see me in two weeks."
